Acne scarring and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation can both occur after a breakout.

Post-acne scars can be addressed by using a combination of scar revision procedures to smooth-out and reduce the appearance of them. Find out more on our available scar revision procedures.

Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation will usually fade on its own over time – depending on your metabolism it can take months to even years for it to become less obvious. There are options to speed up the process, such as a medical facial.

Are acne and rash the same thing? Can you treat my rash?

Absolutely not. There are several skin conditions that look like acne, but are caused by different reasons.

For example, dermatitis causes a rash which often looks like acne. People diagnosed with rosacea have persisting facial redness and sometimes acne-like breakouts. Keratosis pilaris causes small, red bumps that can be mistaken for acne. A skin disease may also produce acne-looking bumps and redness.

Note: Medical Spa Club is a cosmetic clinic that provides treatment options for medical acne. Otherwise, you should visit a dermatologist office for skin disease and infection diagnosis and treatments.

How do cortisone shots work?

Corticosteroid is injected directly into a cyst to reduce inflammation, swelling, and pain of cystic acne (one of the most severe forms of acne).

Corticosteroid shots can also make acne scars less visible. But steroid injections may have side effects, such as thinning the skin or changing its colour.
