Botox® (Botulinum Toxin Type A) is used for the treatment of various neurological disorders (with Botox® Medical or Botox® Therapeutic) and Botox® Cosmetic is used for cosmetic purposes. In cosmetic use, small injected doses block the ability of underlying facial muscles to contract; this is designed to reduce existing wrinkles on the face. The effects of Botox® Cosmetic treatments generally last anywhere from 3 to 4 months.
Similar to Botox®, Xeomin® and Dysport® are created for movement disorders or frown lines.
Xeomin® (incobotulinumtoxinA) is an anti-wrinkle injection clinically proven to temporarily treat moderate-to-severe frown lines between eyebrows.
Dysport® is indicated for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines associated with procerus and corrugator muscle activity in adult patients less than 65 years of age.
Latisse® is an Health Canada-approved treatment to grow eyelashes for people with inadequate or not enough lashes. The lashes grow gradually over time with some people beginning to see longer lashes in about four weeks, with full growth at 16 weeks. Specifically, patients treated with Latisse® in the clinical study experienced a:
• 25% increase in lash length (vs. 2% for vehicle)
• 106% increase in lash thickness/fullness (vs. 12% for vehicle)
• 18% increase in lash darkness (vs. 3% for vehicle)
