Microneedling

Microneedling (also spelled micro-needling and micro needling) is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that produces tiny holes in the skin helping to treat skin concerns by stimulating collagen production.

Microneedling creates microscopic holes, or empty “spaces” in the skin. The skin recognizes these holes as tissue loss and begins to produce collagen and elastin to “fill” them. The result is an increase in skin collagen and elastin with an improvement in skin texture and firmness, as well as a reduction in scars and pore size. The discomfort is minimal with the use of our numbing cream and the recovery is quick with minimal to no downtime.

Advantages of Microneedling

Microneedling is far more effective than at-home rollers because they don’t puncture the skin hardly at all. You won’t achieve the same results with home-use rollers from professional microneedling.

The punctures made during professional microneedling are designed to induce skin rejuvenation. You may see some results after each session but the ideal results are achieved after multiple sessions. Some clients prefer microneedling than some high-energy therapies such as Thermage* as initial results can often become noticeable faster. Also, it is minimally invasive, meaning much shorter downtime after the procedure.

* Clients report improvement can be experienced 2 weeks after a single session and 4-6 weeks for full results;  it takes 2 months to see initial results with Thermage and 6-9 months to reveal full results. Final results are not comparable as different treatments reach different depths.

You may be an ideal candidate for this procedure if you’re in good health and have certain skin concerns that don’t respond well to home treatments or other types of dermatologic procedures, such as chemical peels.

Why should I have the procedure done at a medical facility?

Some people opt for home rollers instead or even attempt to perform the procedure themselves at home to save money. A medical facility provides a clean and sanitized environment to avoid complications and infections. You’ll also have a skin professional to check on your recovery and treatment progress, so the intensity can be adjusted best suited to your needs.

What makes a Medical Spa Club Microneedling treatment special?

Our Microneedling treatment uses advanced machine-powered microneedling device with a disposable tip cartridge and easily-adjustable programmable puncture depth for optimal effectiveness and safety.

The tip is equipped with micro-needles which uses proprietary technology to penetrate vertically into the skin. The stamping action of the vertical tip creates micro-injuries to the skin to stimulate the skin’s natural ability to increase the production of new collagen without stretching the skin like derma roller does. It provides our practitioner more precise control of the angle and depth.

Additionally, our treatment includes premium Lumi-Facial™ LED red light therapy to further stimulate collagen growth, and a complimentary Endocare® Regenerating Anti-Aging Intensive Ampoule to help regenerate and repair the skin.

This varies from patient to patient and depends on the depth of the treatment. However, with the use of numbing cream, discomfort is minimal. Our practitioner will communicate with you during the procedure to properly manage any discomfort.

Is It Safe?

This procedure is considered safe and well tolerated with no significant side effects reported in clinical studies.

Our well-trained medical aesthetician will communicate with you during the procedure to make sure maximum efficacy can be delivered while maintaining an acceptable level of comfortability. The treatment depths are adjusted depending on the treatment areas and your feedback.

The device tip is one-time use for hygiene and safety. It is disposed and handled with care at our medical waste disposal standard.

How long does it take?

The actual procedure only takes around 20-30 minutes. However, the treatment area has to be cleansed and you’ll need anesthetic cream before the actual procedure. The preparation work adds an hour.

How many sessions do i need?

The number of microneedling sessions needed will depend on the severity of your skin concerns as well as your expectations. You may need at least 3-4 procedures to see satisfactory improvements.

You may have each session spaced at least 2 weeks apart to allow sufficient time for the skin to heal.

What Should I Expect After The Procedure? What Are The Side Effects? How Long Does It Take To Recover?

Common side effects of microneedling include mild irritation, tenderness, swelling, and redness. These are temporary and generally go away within a few hours to 3 days.

Since microneedling is minimally invasive, there is little downtime after the procedure. You should be able to resume your daily activities immediately.

What aftercare should I take?

You should keep your skincare regime minimal right after your procedure. You should wait at least 3 days for the open wounds to fully heal before having acids and retinoid products again.

You will not be able to have makeup on the treated area immediately after the procedure. You must wait for at least 24 hours after the procedure and should use mineral products to minimize skin irritation.

Sun exposure should be avoided and sunscreen must be used when you go out. Sunscreen can be applied 24 hours after the procedure.
