UV-Radiation-and-Skin

Summer is definitely over and the days of enjoying the sun are long behind us. Now, you may be looking at the mirror examining your skin wondering if you have any sun damage at all. Even with sunscreen applied everywhere, you could still have plenty of sun damage left over from your youth – remember squirming from your mom when she tried to apply a coat of sunblock?

This damage is caused by the sun giving off invisible rays of ultraviolet light, Ultraviolet B (UVB) and Ultraviolet A (UVA), that are absorbed by your skin, as shown in this diagram, “UV Radiation and the Skin”.

Both cause lasting damage. UV radiation alters the actual DNA of your skin cells causing lines, wrinkles, discoloration, and eventually skin cancer.

So, it’s time to stop the process at each layer. You can reverse it with the following treatments.used individually or in combination:

reverse-sun-damage-treatment-skin-layers1 – CHEMICAL PEEL – Exfoliate sun damaged skin and remove pigment spots residing deeper in the skin. Chemical peels work by penetrating through the skin’s layers and exfoliating sun-damaged, thickened surface skin while removing sun spots and stimulating collagen production for firmer skin. Chemical peels are very effective in renewing the skin’s texture because they remove unwanted dead skin cells, and allow fresh skin to the surface. Depth of penetration (and effect) depends on strength of the peel selected. The result is a tighter, brighter skin with smaller pores and fewer wrinkles.

2 – BBL – Remove redness, unwanted blood vessels, and sun spots.
BBL (Broad Band Light Therapy) exposes sun damaged skin to pulses of light energy that stimulate collagen and elastin fibers. It eliminates fine vessels that cause redness and reduces unwanted pigment collections / spots. BBL is a “no downtime” procedure that will even-out you skin tone and tighten pores, restoring your skin to its naturally beautiful state, making it more vibrant and youthful in appearance and feel.

3 – MICRODERMABRASION – Remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells.
Microdermabrasion works on the most superficial skin layer in restoring sun damaged skin to its natural beauty by removing the top layer of dead skin cells. It can be used on its’ own for a mild effect with no down time, or after BBL or a chemical peel to remove residual pigment or flakes of skin debris which clog the pores and create a dull appearance. Microdermabrasion will make your skin will look and feel smoother, more radiant, and rejuvenated.

4 – SKIN CARE PRODUCTS – Use skin care products with retinol and antioxidant capsules.

Retinol is vitamin A in its purest form which is essential to the maintenance of vibrant healthy skin. It rapidly revitalizes the appearance of sun-damaged and aged skin by increasing cell turnover and stimulating collagen synthesis.

Antioxidant capsules, such as Alryia’s line of capsules, contain 10% Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid) which is a powerful antioxidant that will slow down skin aging by inactivating free radicals generated by UV light and metabolism. This will diminish signs of aging and help protect against UV damage. It is also required for collagen synthesis, making it an essential component needed for skin’s repair and maintenance activities READ MORE
